Bay Area Communities for Health Education (BACHE) is a group of parents, community members and allies that promotes the teaching of comprehensive, medically accurate, age-appropriate, bias-free sex education in our public schools.

Welcome, Gabby!

We are so excited to welcome our new Community Organizer, Gabriela Castillo! Gabby will be working with BACHE to help us reach and organize parents toward improving the sex education in their schools.

Photo of Gabriela Gabby has worked in reproductive justice since her undergraduate years at Cal. In addition to her work at BACHE, she is currently the Program Health Coordinator at Berkeley Youth Alternatives. Previously, Gabby was the Program Manager at ACCESS Women’s Health Justice, overseeing and managing the ACCESS hotline and volunteers.  Gabby has worked as a youth advocate and case manager throughout the Bay Area, advocating on behalf of and with low-income and at-risk youth. Gabby’s commitment to social justice stems from her personal history: originally from Southern California, Gabby is a first generation college graduate from the University of California at Berkeley with a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. Her goal is to one day become a nurse midwife and to continue empowering her community in this way.  She is dedicated to transforming the world into a more just place for ourselves and for future generations.

Workshops: How to Talk to Your Kids About Sex

BACHE offers two parent workshops on how to have an ongoing dialogue with your kids about sex. Parents are their children’s primary sex educators, whether they purposefully create a dialogue about sex or not. The first workshop will cover the basics, and the second workshop will focus more on gender and sexuality. Learn more about our workshops and how to sign up!
