Parent Toolkit

Advocating for Comprehensive Sexual Health Education in CA Public Schools:

A complete guide for parents, guardians, and community members

Is your child's school teaching abstinence as the only option for teens? BACHE'S Parent Toolkit can help you improve the sex education your children and their classmates are receiving. The Toolkit will guide you through the steps necessary to understand the issue, bring together other community members to help you, and seek change from the school district in an effective way. Our step-by-step Toolkit is based on our years of experience getting school districts to implement comprehensive sex education. We hope you'll find that it takes the mystery out of the advocacy process and empowers you to make change in your community.

You will find a wealth of information and resources in the Toolkit. The steps listed on the right of this page are your guide to navigating it. You can also use the bottommost "Toolkit Overview" link to see a more detailed map of the toolkit. If you want to print the basic toolkit as PDF files, you will still find many supporting documents and resources on the site. Our BACHE in Action! section contains examples of our past successes. Refer school district staff to our Resources for Administrators section.

If at any point in the process you have questions or need support, we invite you to contact us.

Thank you for standing up so that students can get the sexual health information they need. We wish you great success in your efforts!

Happy organizing!

Sincerely,
The BACHE Team
